Most Tier-1 carriers today own both fixed and wireless networks and hence are offering a richer set of mobile collaboration capabilities. This is based on the fact that they can offer a more advanced a carrier-based architecture, as well as provide full integration between a fixed network and the cellular network. These fixed-mobile network operators all employ the use of advanced fulfillment management, integrated with a set of advanced mobile management tools.
Using the previous example of integrated SNR services, the fixed-mobile network carriers are able to offer a comprehensive SNR service, such that a call from a mobile phone will actually present the SNR number and not the mobile phone number. They achieve this by using advanced number translation capabilities provided by including a Class-4 switch in the architecture and having integrated UC management systems. The fulfillment management system is able to automatically populate and dynamically maintain the SNR number groups for each user within the class-4 switch directory. When a call is placed, the class-4 switch has powerful A and B number look-up capabilities (times 10 directory look-up), which allows for real-time number translation for the display number.
Integrated dial plan management, advanced aggregation layer architectures, integrated fixed and wireless networks and automated collaboration application configuration are all capabilities that cannot be offered fully by the enterprise alone.
