Essentially, "interoperability" means that old and new communications applications are integrated so that they work together at various levels; namely the network and the application layer. Interoperability also means transitioning from the past to the future.
A collaboration architecture is application driven; it is also extremely dynamic, requiring real-time access and constant upgrades and evolution. As a result, the need for collaboration interoperability has never been so great.
So when it comes to enterprise collaboration interoperability, it is important for an organization that all services internetwork seamlessly, so that any changes or upgrades made to the environment are carried out across the organization without any impact on end user experience.
