At VOSS, we have put together a summary of our predictions for the UC&C fulfillment marketing in 2012.
Our major prediction for 2012 is that UC fulfillment tools will start to merge with mobile management tools.
The increased focus on mobile UC will drive MDM and UC fulfillment solutions to provide an end-to-end management capability for enterprises (and service providers who are offering managed mobile services) who wish to support the growing trend toward mobile users and mobile smart devices (smart phones and tablets).
UC fulfillment is currently provisioning the IPT and UC network infrastructure and UC applications, including mobility. Mobility from a UC perspective today includes smart clients that operate on mobile devices.
There is a raft of management tools specifically designed for the mobile phone market. These include:
- MDM (mobile device management) software tools
- User authentication tools
- Secure web gateways (SWGs)
- Application delivery via enterprise app stores
- Telecom (mobile) expense management tools
Our prediction for 2012 is that as mobile UC grows in popularity, we will see specific UC management tools merge (integrate) with specific mobile tools as it makes no sense to have over-lapping tools covering a similar end-to-end management process.
