VOSS has created a proof-of-concept platform with the Avaya IPCoDE platform and has confirmed that the Cisco-based service management framework used by VOSS operates effectively within the Avaya environment without the need for a major design change.
Preliminary conclusions on the VOSS-Avaya proof of concept solution:
- Provisioning use cases can be readily implemented
- VOSS API architecture supports the Avaya XML-SOAP provisioning requirements
- Avaya-Communications Manager dial plan can be modelled
- The Avaya IPPBX clusters can be set up within the VOSS-based dial plans to simplify roadmap towards multi-customer/ multi-tenant offerings
- VOSS can offer enhanced Avaya phone inventory management
- VOSS-DHCP phone management capability can be readily enhanced to support Avaya phone registration and discovery
- Avaya digital and analog line support can probably be configured via VOSS-menu structure
- Avaya UM provisioning
VOSS’s core strength is to offer a true hybrid Cisco-Avaya capability (building on its proven day-0 to day-3 Cisco-based solution framework). Avaya’s “service management” challenges are very similar to those observed with Cisco. VOSS is now working on a phased Avaya support model, dictated by customer requirements.
VOSS would welcome the opportunity to discuss Cisco-Avaya opportunities with organizations that are facing issues in managing hybrid architectures.
