VOSS is an automated UC dervice delivery and management platform, designed specifically to address the challenges involved in deploying and managing UC across an existing Cisco IP telephony platform.
Unlike traditional fulfilment vendors, the VOSS platform simplifies and speeds the deployment of IP telephony and unified communications services, as well as providing the management platform for the services that have been deployed.
The VOSS platform provides the following functionality to Cisco IPT customers:
- A business-driven portal for an “end-to-end solution architecture” over the full lifecycle of the platform (from design, through build and deployment, through support and administration, through to upgrading)
- Automation of the complex set of service configuration steps, simplifying operations in real time – ultimately allowing the Enterprise to focus on business processes, not the technology
- VOSS provides a “manager of managers” capability for multiple network elements, plus the full suite of UC services. Each one of these elements typically provides its own separate management interface today, but VOSS removes the need for multiple, separate management steps
- Supporting the delivery of advanced UC applications, without the need for major systems integration
- Manage the allocation and configuration of IP telephony resources, including IP PBX clusters, firewalls, media gateways, IP address management systems, customer dial-plans, telephone numbers, phones, lines and value-added services
- Enable central IT&T teams to devolve the administration of telephony services to their locations or divisions and their end-users (catering for shared multi-cluster situations)
- Allow end-users to self-administer voice features, events and services, as well as to administer the set-up of their phone profile.
- Allow the enterprise to manage their IP telephony platform as a single entity, simplifying integration with other BSS and OSS systems and reducing operational complexity and costs
- Automate and simplify the activation of new sites, phones, end-users and their phone services – providing real-time provisioning in place of more manual, and often error-prone batch provisioning. The goal is to allow provisioning by a non-technical administrator
- Enable 'mass configuration' in support of migration programs and to allow much faster roll-out of IP devices and services
- Business monitoring and SLA maintenance
