Most management systems on the market today are purely infrastructure element managers and don’t have a business orchestration capability. That is to say they provide a slightly better - i.e. more user-friendly - GUI compared to the native user interface, but they do exactly the same task - i.e. element configuration.
UC&C is not an infrastructure-based service per se. It is more of an application layer that consumes infrastructure services. UC&C requires applications interworking while operating on separate infrastructure, e.g. active directory integration to UC&C applications, or dial plan interworking between UC&C applications.
Therefore, management needs to not only know about the infrastructure, but also be able to allow the delivery and differentiation - i.e. customization - at the application layer. This is business process orchestration and this is precisely what VOSS provides and why VOSS is so different to other management platforms.
