IPT Resources
VOSS provides the means to manage precious IPT and UC resources centrally. E164 numbers are probably the best example. A provider or large organization needs to be able to manage their numbers so that they know which customer has what number range, and what numbers are being held in reserve for that customer. They need to know when customers are fast-approaching the end of their number range and whether an adjacent range is available or not. They need to be able to search on a particular number or IP address to find out who it has been allocated to, independent of the device infrastructure.
VOSS shows where and how these resources have been allocated across the business, as well as showing unallocated resources so that it is much easier to manage them.
Services
VOSS tracks what service each customer or enterprise business unit has as well as the number of service packages and the number of each class of service across each service.
Service consumption can easily be tracked on an organization-by-organization basis and limits can be set so that an organization will need to apply to the central IT authority before it can activate any additional services.
A provider can track how popular a new service is and the traction it is gaining across its customer base by being able to produce reports on daily activation rates.
A provider can also aggregate all their activated services so that they know how many service licenses they are consuming.
Inventory
There is now a myriad of devices, with hundreds of different phone types and models. How do you keep track of all of them? VOSS tracks where inventory exists across the customer or user base and whether it has been provisioned or not. Similar to services management capabilities, it is also possible to set limits on what customers are allowed to consume before they must come back to the provider for a top-up.
