This case study provides a real–life example of VOSS Solutions accepting a “Pepsi Challenge” from a prospective customer and completing that challenge with flying colors. The company is now one of VOSS’ leading customers for its latest generation UC management platform.
CDK Global is the largest global provider of integrated information technology and digital marketing solutions to the automotive retail industry. It has more than 26,000 customers that generate nearly $2 billion revenue, and has been operating for over 40 years. The company operates a hosted communications platform that comprises 120,000 phones.
CDK became a Cisco HCS client in 2013 and after a thorough evaluation made the decision not to deploy the HCS integrated UC management platform from VOSS – known as Cisco UC Domain Manager (CUCDM) – as part of its cloud collaboration infrastructure.
The main reason for this decision was that the technical team at CDK believed that it was important to be able to differentiate their cloud offer with a highly customized design service. Their strategy was based around the fact that customers were far less likely to churn if their communications solution not only meet the specific needs of their business, but actually provided a competitive advantage.
As a result, the CDK technical team preferred to manually design and deploy its advanced UC platforms, specifically customized to each one of its customer environments. To improve the productivity of their deployment team, they developed a range of one–off tools to address certain repetitive tasks, but continued to use their skilled engineers to custom design their solutions.
