Solving The Migration Conundrum – The VOSS Way

My colleague Jim Ortbals recently wrote a blog post about the “coming of age” in the business communications operations management (BCOM) space. He discussed the fact that organizations are increasingly aware of the challenges faced when you have a UC platform in place that has no management; and more and more, these companies are turning to the VOSS-4-UC management platform to solve this problem.

We have been solving this problem for major service providers and large enterprises for over 10 years now. But Jim's right, in 2015 there has been a definite uptick in momentum around BCOM, no question.

And it's not the only place we are seeing momentum.

When enterprise organizations started to buy-in to the concept of cloud-based UC in 2011, service providers and cloud providers around the world stepped up to plate to offer compelling UCaaS solutions.

The challenge for UCaaS providers?

How to on-board enterprise companies to their new cloud UC environments quickly, cost-efficiently, and with minimum disruption to business.

To satisfy this market demand, VOSS developed a UC migration toolkit, MiGR8-2-UC. MiGR8-2-UC significantly decreases time to revenue to shortening the on boarding cycle through automation and best practices, and by delivering higher quality migrations which reduce error correction cycles. MiGR8-2-UC is a product designed to carry out big data UC migration projects, using a revolutionary DETVL methodology, which discovers, extracts, transforms, validates, and loads large volumes of data, to help organizations rapidly and efficiently migrate large volumes of users, devices and UC services, from an older release of UC (or even from legacy TDM) to the latest UC solutions available. If you are new to MiGR8-2-UC, this short video is a good place to start.

Similar to Jim's comments about the "coming of age" in the BCOM space, the momentum around large and complex UC migrations has really picked up in 2015.

In the first half of 2015, cloud providers are using MiGR8-2-UC to onboard more than 500,000 new customer devices. That is a marked increase over previous years, and our forecasts indicate that there is no wane in sight. The percentage of cloud providers using MigR8-2-UC is also increasing; by 25% in 2014, and 50% in 2015. Providers clearly see the value of harnessing VOSS automation tools to onboard new customers, sites, users, devices and services as efficiently as possible, so that enterprise organizations can reap the rewards of cloud-based UC as quickly as possible.

So with MiGR8-2-UC helping cloud providers with the huge task of on-boarding these enterprise customers that are moving to cloud UC, and VOSS-4-UC being the cloud management platform of choice, it's turning out to be a very busy year for VOSS. Don't get me wrong, there is still a lot of work to be done; there are still millions of "un managed" Cisco devices out there, and there are still plenty of cloud providers "going it alone" when it comes to onboarding users and devices. So, we continue to work hard to educate the market as to the value of the VOSS-4-UC management platform, and the value of our highly sophisticated MigR8-2-UC, to help automate the onboarding process.
