A Better Way to PowerShell With VOSS Automate

Changes to Microsoft Teams PowerShell Module

It’s June, and the latest changes for the Microsoft PowerShell module for Microsoft Teams are rolling this month. They are tagged as V4.x (v4.4.1 is the latest) and previous versions are being retired. New tenants have moved to the new version already and existing tenants will be migrated this month.

On a positive note, the new version brings significant improvement to how users and numbers are managed. It also introduces fields to represent Operator Connect and Call Plans in the module.

However, be warned. Customers need to pay attention and upgrade their existing PowerShell scripts to take account of the changes. Otherwise you run the risk of seeing these scripts fail once the changes go live.

VOSS Automate and Self-Service is the Way to Go

I’m often asked if this behavior is routine, and I’m afraid it is. Microsoft publishes changes in advance, but relies on customers to acknowledge and action these. It means reworking existing PowerShell scripts to use new cmdlets, testing, and then releasing to the internal teams that make use of them. It also requires good documentation on the existing scripts and technical resources that can change and support them.

There is a better way with VOSS Automate

VOSS Automate removes this complexity, providing an intuitive web-based portal from which you can fully manage Microsoft Teams. You can leave the hard work of PowerShell scripting, tracking the latest version, and assuring the result, with VOSS Automate. It offers a simple yet highly automated solution that can be rolled out for use on your service desk. This allows you to manage Microsoft Teams alongside your other communication and collaboration services.

What’s more, VOSS Automate also enables you to provide a level of self-service through the same portal for consistency: to your staff if you’re an enterprise or your customers if you’re a service provider. It also gives access controls and data segregation, so that individual users can action their own day-to-day changes.

In a nutshell, VOSS Automate removes the complexity of PowerShell scripts from managing your service.

Everybody wins!
