With the advent of LetsEncrypt and WikiLeaks, and with Google showing a preference to HTTPS for search rankings, this session will look at whether the addition of encryption really makes sense.
The session will be led by Hendrik Visage who has spent more than 20 years in the IT industry in various security and system administration related roles. Hendrik has developed a security model to educate people about their roles and the rest of the computer components in securing a service or computer.
During the workshop, Hendrik will highlight a few cases where the addition of encryption has raised a false sense of security, rather than adding any real value.
VOSS will host the seminar at its HQ in Cape Town. Attendance is free of charge but spaces are limited, so registration in advance is highly recommended.
